Yichien's fascination with how physiological functions interact with the learning process and social-emotional development has been the motivating force in her studies and career.
Yichien holds an undergraduate degree in immunology at University College London, England. She became a Speech-Language Pathologist and later graduated with a Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology, also at University College London.
She is currently a PhD candidate at Seton Hall University, NJ. Her area of research is pediatric swallowing and feeding development.
Yichien has worked in a variety of settings including acute neural rehabilitation, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), outpatient, and early intervention.
After treating the young and old who were challenged with swallowing and communication difficulties due to neurological disorders, Yichien delved into the study of oral-facial neurodevelopment. She became a Core Specialist and instructor in MNRI®, a modality she uses to integrate oral-facial-motor reflexes to support the learning of oral functions and to jump-start cognition.
To have maximum flexibility and provide innovative treatment modalities, she turned to private practice in 2016.

Our Philosophy

Yichien lives with her family in Morris County, New Jersey.
She and her husband founded Sammy's Friends Foundation
in 2011 after the sudden death of their middle child.
The mission of this private charity is to provide financial help for families whose
children, like Sammy, have global delays and require ongoing developmental treatments.
